'Am I defective?' Asks the Local Horror Veteran.

I've been seriously considerin' this 'cause half the time people recommend me movies and shit, especially horror ones, I end up comin' out like a freak! Check it, it's usually a very "scary" movie recommended to me, or a very disturbing one, to which I always warn and reply "Hey, I'm actually a veteran in horror, so do you think it'll still shake my shit?"

"Oh for sure, it's a good movie even beyond the scare."

Spoiler alert, it usually never fuckin' is.

So I end up watchin' everyone gush 'bout the damn movie and I don't even get why they like it so much! I don't see what's great about it, what scares there were, and I don't share the excitement 'bout it at all. I recently watched GUMMO and while the movie was... interesting, I suppose... I really couldn't do much but think of the many people thinkin' this shit is somehow disturbing. Yes, that one scene is a little gross but nothin' worth barfing over. It was a rather short scene in the whole hour and forty minutes of movie, and that cannot amount for the entire movie to be lauded as disturbing, y'can't be serious. Yet, there the internet folks go around, mingling over their shared disgust meanwhile I'm standing there like a fuckin' psychopath analyzing the movie in its technical, critical sense 'cause I felt nothing on my soul for it. So, I'm truly wondering if I'm just defective or not made for this kinda thing? Should I stick to normal movies in favor of potentially connecting with humans more? Who's to say.

God, I could go on about this, with any movie really, 'cause it happens so much but I gotta jet and do other shit. If y'all want me to rant a whole bunch more do let me know, but that aside... your girl over here gotta bounce.

Catch y'all later.

A horror movie that I enjoyed lately that was nicely disturbing was “Malignant”. Did you catch that one?

Horror is such a tough genre for recommendations in general. What's considered scary? Atmosphere? Jump scares? Gore? It depends on the person. Curious what your favorite horror movie is.

I get what you mean. Every time the latest horror movie is raved about I get excited and then...just no. Oh well, I'll stick to the ones I know I like.
